Welcome to Me!

My Great Nearby !

I grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Charlotte is an interesting place.  To our west lies the Blue Ridge Mountains, part of the illustrious Appalachians we’ve all heard so much about. They're very nice mountains. I'm quite fond of them. My family tried to get out to see them whenever we could because we would always be blown away. Very nice mountains. They are the oldest mountain chain in the United States. At one point, its peaks were comparable to the Himalayas. But time weathered Her so. That gives these mountains an interesting rolling~hill~feeling i've always appreciated.

This is the town of Chimney Rock. It is centered around Chimney Rock State Park. Good energy this place.

Far out to the east lies another interesting geographic phenomenon--the Outer Banks. They line almost the entirety of North Carolina’s coast.  It’s quite an interesting thing.   Just a smattering of barrier islands that extends the whole way over.  I’ve always thought it was the darnedest thing.  I’ve never been able to go, though.   I want to one day.

This here is Cape Hatteras. One of the tallest lighthouses in the world at its inception in 1870. It is located on the outer banks. Such a tremendous structure was commissioned because the shifting sandbars of the banks caused many ships to cease being ships. This gave the area the nickname the Graveyard of the Atlantic. Cape Hatteras is still the tallest brick lighthouse in the United States. And what a thing it is.

The Outer Banks really are a fascinating place. If you analyze this string of islands, you will notice a 'Kitty Hawk,' towards the top. This is where Wilbur and Orville Wright put man in the air. This is where it all began. Take that Bezos. Our license plates in North Carolina say "First in Flight," and boy were we.

Now the area that lies between these two geographical monoliths is where I came from--the Piedmont. Quite succinctly defined as the area between the Appalachian Mountains and Atlantic Ocean.  The Piedmont is a curious place, most notable for its failure to compare to the ocean and mountain it sits between. I still like the Piedmont, though.

I try to go on walks when I can.  I have a bad habit of smoking.  It’s lame, but it gets me out and I get to go on a lot of fun walks.  Hyde Park is a really fun place to walk around.  It is very unlike the suburban setting I am accustomed to, and I appreciate how thoughtfully crafted the community is.  It feels like an art piece, just weaving through different city blocks and seeing how they all come together.  It’s quite the doozy.

Enjoy this blank space and just appreciate how cool & funky HP is :)
In this class, I hope to gain a greater appreciation for our interesting urban environment that is that piece of art.  Shout out to Hyde Park!  And shout out to this funky cool class we all get to take part in. I hope we all get to teach each other a little something about this unique place we find ourselves in.

I can't think of any information in particular to include with the reveal function. I kind of splurged on that first section. So just enjoy these photos of my family. Yes there are many of us.

This is a grainy picture of my dad a few weeks after my birth. He was charged--but not convicted!--with a DUI. Love you dad <3 he's a fun guy.

Now we out here with some foxes. Hope yall :)
